This is a lovely addition to our romantic picnic, because it’s easy, packed with flavour, and light. Also, the ingredients have aphrodisiac properties.
The seed crackers are also super easy to make, or available from any grocery store. We normally get ours from Woolworths.
Ingredients:
- 200g Salmon (canned or smoked)
- 1/2 tub sour cream
- 1 lemon
- 1 clove garlic
- 1 avocado (or premade guacamole)
- 1/4 teaspoon Paprika
- A pinch cayenne pepper
- 1/2 cup chopped fresh chives
- Fresh Chili or chili flakes.
- Salt and pepper
- Seed crackers or seed cracker mix (recipe link above)
Method:
Finley slice the salmon or place the contents of the canned salmon in a bowl with: salt and pepper, chopped garlic clove, sour cream, chives, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, 1/2 teaspoon lemon rind, paprika, and cayenne pepper. Adjust spices, salt and pepper to taste.
Either place the ready made guacamole in a bowl and serve (a spicy or zesty one will work) or mash the avocado so that it is still a bit chunky. Add 1 tablespoon lemon juice, chopped chili or chili flakes, salt and pepper. adjust to taste.
To serve: Layer the salmon and avo on the seed crackers.
Easy as pie.
Happy Valentine’s day! From our Kitchen to yours.
